| Body composition analysis |
What the scales tell you is only part of the story.Exclusive Fitness personal training now offers body composition analysis as part of the pre-exercise screening before undergoing one on one personal training. This comprehensive analysis not only displays weight in kilograms it also allows the user to display his/her body fat %, visceral fat levels, skeletal muscle %, BMI and resting metabolism. Using these levels as a base, regular checks can be made to ensure that the training is heading in the right direction. When carrying out an exercise program and only checking the weight loss, often the kilograms will not be dropping as quickly as one would want, causing a lack of confidence for the program. This may be due to not only dropping in fat % of the body but increasing the muscle mass resulting in a less than adequate drop on the scales. With body composition analysis body fat % can be seen decreasing whilst skeletal muscle % can be seen to increase thus causing an increase in resting metabolism. This monitoring is not only great for the confidence of the client but to make sure the training is headng in the right direction. Visceral fat is basically fat that is accumulated around the organs. This is fat that cannot be seen with the eye and is associated with insulin resistance, glucose intolerance, dyslipidemia, hypertension, and coronary artery disease. The body composition analysis will rate this at a level between 1 to 30. With time, exercise and monitoring, these levels will be seen to drop which will be a welcome sign for trainer and client. BMI (body mass index) is a calculation performed which compares a persons weight and height. It is useful to determine a healthy body weight compared to height. Resting metabolism is the amount of energy (calories) used by the body, at rest, to maintain the function of the vital organs. When monitoring resting metabolism we can see as time progresses through the program an increase in this figure if the training is successful. As well as the body composition analysis a blood pressure check and a comprehensive pre-exercise questionaire are also carried out before all one on one personal training programs are created. |
