Body weight training is utilising exercises where the client uses their own bodyweight as the resistance. For example the most common form of body weight exercises are crunches, sit-ups, push-ups, and chin-ups. Advantages of body weight training Due to the availability of the equipment being used (none) a bodyweight training program can be carried out anywhere and at anytime. Most exercises can be progressed and regressed (made easier or harder) so it makes suitability for all users. Many people believe that this form of training is easy and cannot be a challenging workout but depending on the imagination these exercises can be more challenging than the traditional weighted variety. Examples of body weight training Take for example the push-up, in its simplest form it can be performed by almost anyone, but progressed to its most challenging is a exercise that not many can do.
